Brady’s Dedication

March 24, 2013 by Sarah

We had Brady formally dedicated to the Lord on March 17th.  While we dedicated him to the Lord months ago, there is something that I love about doing it publicly before our church family.

In our church, we are committing to raise him up according to the truths outlined in scripture with the hope that one day he might make a decision regarding his own eternal salvation.  We certainly pray that he will one day begin a relationship with Jesus and want to do our part to encourage it.  We don’t take our responsibility of encouraging his spiritual growth lightly.  We want him to love Jesus and live for Him!

At the same time, our church family also makes a public commitment to help and support us as we raise Brady.  We know that many people will play a role in guiding him and it was wonderful to hear our church family’s willingness to commit to him as well.

Some of our family was able to be there, which is always special.

We enjoyed some Mexican food for lunch afterwards.

We are also learning that it is almost impossible to get a good family picture these days!  But we will keep on trying!

My heart fills up just looking through these pictures.  I remember a time when it was difficult to watch children be dedicated because I yearned to have my own children in my arms.  I don’t take a moment of this for granted!  If God lays it on your heart, would you pray for a friend of mine who I know is hurting in this area?  I know she’d appreciate it so much!

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
