Fashion Friday – Beach Week

August 17, 2013 by Sarah

I’m down in the dumps today.  We are back home in Richmond.  And the fact that we are back home in Richmond means that we are no longer at the beach, and that makes me sad.  πŸ™

Don’t get me wrong, I love Richmond and I love our home.  But, I realized this past week that I truly am a beach girl at heart.  I just can’t get quite enough of it!  And the fact that the last 2 days of our week were not great beach weather days didn’t help much.  It was overcast and extremely windy, which meant it was not conducive to sitting on the beach for very long.  Bummer.

Once the bags are unpacked a bit, I’ll make sure to fill you in a little more about our week!

In the meantime, I wanted to show you an outfit I wore on Wednesday night.  I’ve thoroughly enjoyed not wearing maternity clothes this summer and trying to get myself back into style.  When I thought back, I’ve been pregnant for 3 of the previous 4 summers {that’s crazy} so I sort of feel like a new woman.

Here’s the rundown of the outfit along with what I spent at the end, since cost is always a concern of this Teacher’s Wife!

{By the way, will I ever not feel odd taking pictures of myself in the mirror??  I can’t seem to get used to it and my smile does weird things too!}

The top was a recent purchase on my Charleston trip.  I gravitated towards it as soon as I spotted it.  I’m a sucker for stripes these days and the nautical look, what can I say?

I’ve also been liking bright colored shorts and I remembered that I had these lime green shorts stored away.  I wouldn’t have normally thought to pair the shirt and shorts together but I’ve probably been reading too much over at Mix and Match Family and have been inspired by Shay’s striped, 3/4 length sleeve shirts paired with bright colored bottoms looks.

I went simple on the jewelry and paired the outfit with my gold ball earrings and new long necklace.

As for shoes, well, let’s just say that I wear flip flops with just about everything in the summer, so that was a no-brainer.  Perhaps, I’ll start working on improving my shoe wardrobe this fall!  One thing at a time.

Top: Ann Taylor Loft Outlet – $17.99
Shorts: J.Crew – I have no clue about price b/c I got them years ago when they were on clearance but I’d guess no more than $15
Earrings: Target – approx. $5 on clearance
Necklace: Claire’s Outlet – $10
Flip flops: Old Navy – $1 on dollar flip flop day
* * * * * *

Let me know what you think!  Anything I could have done differently?  I’m all ears!
Have a great weekend!

    Sarah, You look absolutely beautiful. YOu have classic taste in clothes. To be honest, though, you are beautiful in anything you wear. And a bonus….you are also gorgeous on the inside, too. Love you.Loleta
