Summer Stock Up Items

July 15, 2014 by Sarah

With summer in full swing and flying by quicker than ever, I thought I’d better take a minute to post about summer stock up items before it’s too late.  It’s crazy, but fall will be here before we know it!

If you’ve read here long, you know that I try my best to shop the grocery store sales and that I tend to use a coupon or two.  Whether you’re a beginner at trying to save money or not, now is a great time to stock up certain items that tend to only go on good sales during the summer months.  If it’s within your budget and you have the space, I’d consider trying to stock up for the year on some of these items.  {Remember:  freezing some of your summer produce is a great way to eat seasonal produce during the winter months}.
I’m sure this list is not inclusive of everything but here’s what I came up with after some brainstorming of what I’ve seen over the years and even just recently in the sale flyers.

Food/Grocery Items

– condiments {ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, relish, BBQ sauce, salad dressings, etc.}
– sodas, drink mixes
– napkins, plastic cups, paper plates, plastic silverware
– hot dogs, hamburgers, buns
– baked beans
– chips or other snacks
– seasonal produce {blueberries, strawberries, peaches, corn, summer squash, green beans, etc.}
Other
– school supplies
– summer clothing for next year
– grills/camping gear/outdoor equipment
– sunscreen {although you may want to check for expiration dates}

What else should we be stocking up on this summer?
